Ride you

No, It's not what you think... Remember the song with Joe Ft. G-Unit "Ride with You"? I was listening to this song on my Ipod today, and reminisced about a particular date with Lion*in DC.

Lion was my last Carino. It took me a few before I could move on but I did. Both Lion and I had pretty demanding schedules. But we were about to go out on our date. Lion is compared to me, extremely organized. I'm more spontaneous when it comes to personal and fun activities. After about 7 text messages where he inquired specific times, bed times, restaurant, pick-up place and who would drive - we figured it out. I would pick Lion up, and then we would have dinner at Japanese Restaurant until it would be bed time for Lion by 10:30 PM EST.

My people know I'm familiar with driving in Paris. Who has been in Paris knows it gets kinda crazy. We speed up, and put our car in front of you; honk the horn whenever it suits us. Driving @ night is a problem for me - I rather take a cab, or let my brother's personal security guard drive me around. Being tallied, and tailed isn't exactly what I had in mind for my date with Lion. We agreed that I would drive and pick him up myself. I was running late for our date, and decided to give Lion a heads up because he's very punctual. A message he would leave on my phone would sound like:

Angry Asian Cookie this is Lion: it is 6:19 PM on Monday February 18, 2006. I'm late for our appointment at 7:00 PM due to an unexpected delay. I'll arrive approximately at 7:30 PM, and give you a call when I'm at your place.

Of course this time it was me placing the call. Running late on a date with Lion is not the best start. Especially if he had to be in bed by 10:30 PM EST [lol] but he's worth it so, no nagging *smile*. I finally arrived with my heart pounding, and totally out of breath. Before he opens my door, I manage to ride over his feet. When he recovers from that event, he steps in and while he's still trying to settle in his seat, I already took off with a speed limit of maybe 60 miles an hour. When he almost hits his head to the dashboard without his seat belt buckled up [yet], I knew our evening would be a bummer...

He has the most beautiful smile I've ever seen [sorry guys it's a fact] but I was unsure if he could smile after my disastrous entree. Driving in DC @ night is killing me - add up having a nervous breakdown; running late; and your crush is still thinking what the hell he's doing next to this Angry Asian Cookie. Finally after driving around for a while, we found a parking spot. Now, I did mention I don't like driving @night, and the other X Factors kicking in, right? Ok, I'm parking the car and Lion shout out: "Angry Asian Cookie: you hit the curb - OMG this will cause you a flat tire". He steps out, and the darling tries to give me directions to correct my position. " Turn Right with your Steering Wheel"; "No, straight"; "Right"... Before he gets more annoyed I plead if he can finish the job. He steps in and within no time, the car is parked.

I step out of the car but have to return three times because I drop my wallet, my keys, and my small change. When we walk towards our destination, I noticed that both of my hold-ups have runners - great. Before the restaurant, he hugs me because we had not yet had a proper greeting. He held me so tight, I was out of breath again. I remember that time stood still for a while. When we are finally seated at our table, we started our chitchat. It was fun and light but we also touched some topic of interests with more substance. Still a perfect evening? He's asking me to write the name of my pappa's race and country for references - I randomly take the first paper on our table that I thought could be excellent scrap paper. Of course not-- Lion took the paper out of my hand, and with this funny facial expression he says that it's our note to order...

When the sushi, and our plum wine arrive I'm back to my relaxed self again. I noticed his little saucer with soy sauce on it. I ask him politely if I can dip my sushi in it. Lion puts another strange look on his face up when he asks me if I not rather prefer to have my own sauce. Of course I do, I reply but I think they forgot to serve me my own sauce....

Then he gently directed me to my own saucer and soy bottle at the table on my right hand side....I was so focused on him and our conversation that I had not noticed anything else. We talk and laugh while we're eating but not so long after the soy sauce incident I managed to drop the sushi of my dish. While I picked it off the floor, I dropped my silverware. After he sang a beautiful song: how wonderful life is with you in my world", he reminds me it is past his bed time. I look at my watch, and yes it is 10:31 PM. After I paid the bill I felt it was better for him to drive. Besides I had taken some plum wine, and wine and I don't get along too well..

The rest of the evening and the ride was perfect despite my runners; the saucer; the silverware; the scrap paper; my keys; and the curb.. No more bloopers for Angry Asian Cookie. Hugzz Dahlings, and enjoy my "Ride with U" from Joe.

Angry Asian Cookie.

Interracial Dating

I did some research on interracial relationship especially now I'm dating in Chocolate City !

US census data tells us that of the estimated 246,000 B/W marriages that took place in 1992, more than half were between Black men and White women. Although more recent trends reflect an increase in the numbers of Black women in these types of interracial relationships, the numbers of Black men's involvement continues to outpace that of Black women. Life experiences and opportunities are still driven by race (and class). For example, on average Black men's life expectancies are nearly 6 years less than White men. It is important to keep in mind that it’s a relatively small (though visible, and growing) minority. In addition, keep in mind that these estimates do not include those who are simply dating. Of course, not all Black men offer that kind of excuse (BTW - I also often hear that Black women are too angry.) It is very strange that an attribute such as "strength" becomes something negative and is devalued when it is used to describe Black women. When people (usually Black men) say that Black women are too strong, they are expressing deep-seated ambivalence about their role vis-à-vis Black women, about the historical realities that made their ability to defend and protect Black women extremely difficult, as well as contemporary differences between Black men and Black women in opportunities.

I wonder why we see so many broken homes (i.e. father not around, black single mothers/grandmas being the mom, etc.) in the black community. I doubt that Black women complain about Black men any more than the millions of White women with White men complain about their men. There is a heightened attention to Black people and things they do and say because minority status makes one more noticeable this perceptual reality. Any attempt to genuinely explain the state of affairs for the Black family has to take account of existing disparities in job opportunity, educational attainment, occupational achievement, AND the continuing existence of racial discrimination. Back to the issue about homogenous environments where few other Blacks are present is indeed a real one. BUT, because of the way that the cards are currently stacked in US society, it is more often the case that Black women will find themselves in those settings as solos (i.e., when few other Blacks, and even fewer Black men are present).. People need people... interracial relationships in those types of situations are certainly understandable. A fair amount of sociological attention has addressed the question of ratios and speculated about just how many minorities need to present in a setting for out-race dating and marriage to occur My opinion is that it has more to do with the disproportionate ratios of Black men and women who have something to bring to the proverbial table. There is much discussion and some good recent books that attest to the rather bleak circumstances facing many Black men. When Black women see them in relationships with non-Black women, they often can't help but think about those disproportionate numbers. There is often the thought that "there goes another one".

.

I recently watched the film, "Something New." Although, the premise is a little different than Spike Lee's, "Jungle Fever," in terms of the emphasis being placed on the development/struggle of an inter-racial relationship. Curiosity on both sides are impacting the decisions to date outside of our own race. Some people are curious - especially when they've had little to no interactions with others from different cultures and race. The media is one of the reasons is that the people who make most mainstream movies, sitcoms, etc. continue to be White men. They craft "reality" as depicted in their films from their perspective. The White man is usually the powerful and desirable person in the film. Women in general are still viewed sexually more often than not, and the few Black women who get to star in mainstream films are viewed like most women, as the "prize." The victor of the film always gets the prize. America is still not entirely comfortable with depictions of interracial sex, and particularly with Black men and White women. What's more Black men continue to be represented in these films in some way that is less than desirable (thieves, gangsters, etc.) In our early socialization experiences exert a powerful influence on the choices we make later in life (emphasis on choice). At the same time, you are a product of our society. It is one that unfortunately has a racial hierarchy in which White women are revered relative to Black women. The popular images that surround each of us (TV, movies, videos, etc.) bombard us with this message daily.

I always approached, thanks to my parents, people based on mutual interests. I wanted to meet all kinds of people and have friends that covered the spectrum of races and I have best friends to this day that cross those lines. It’s a normal tendency however to see the world through our own lenses. Unfortunately, unless pressed, people rarely look outside of their own experiences when making judgments about others. A common reaction of African American women when seeing African American men who are in interracial relationships (especially European American women) is anger. As a person whose entire family (on both sides) has been mixed race for many generations now I believe is it counterproductive and a point of unnecessary stress for African American women to agonize over this issue. It more productive to channel these feelings and understand them...

During college and y exposing myself, I limited the contact I had with Asian or White men because of the isolationist practices in place. Not all of them mind you, but a vast majority. So I learned to like who hung out at the same places I did. Sometimes white men were there, many times they were not. That being said, it is a shame in any community when we put down each other for finding love, outside of our color. It is especially painful when most of these same people profess to love God so much and are always touting Church. There is this typology to describe the different type of Black men in interracial relationships read that men only dating non-black woman exclusively was due in part to self-hatred, the embracement of white supremacist myths of beauty and post-slavery psychological influences. The numbers of available mates are dramatically different for Black men and women... this has much to do with Black women's reactions to seeing Black men in interracial relationships and feeling like "there goes another one." Some black women have a double standard when it comes to interracial dating. When a black woman dates outside of her race she is considered "progressive" but when a black man dates outside of his race he's a "sellout”.

A friend of mine shared that he has stopped dating Black women because of their inability to appreciate anything they do not see as ethnically Black. He took a Black woman to the theater and she fell asleep during the ballet. When he awoke her at intermission, she stood in the hallway criticizing other women's dresses and pointing out men she thought were on the Down Low. Five other women he dated admitted they didn’t like to read and only like to watch TV. He told me he didn’t want it waste time dating Black women when this is how far too many behave? But I want to emphasize that you can't pass judge on the 18 million Black women out there on the basis of an unhappy experience with one or a few and I take issue with the angry black woman stereotype

Why is it acceptable to try to date only someone of the same skin color? This closed minded attitude is terribly out of sync with our times. Are we going to go back to miscegenation laws to "help" the situation? In my gist of the issues I don’t think that it would help to make a black woman feel better. In addition it makes me sad that there is a notion that black woman are stereotyped as all fat, angry, uncultured and saddled with multiple children and "baby daddies". My best friend [who is an African American Sister] doesn’t know ONE FRIEND who has a child out of wedlock and these black girlfriends own property, have advanced degrees, travel the world and enjoy cultural arts.

Why do I want to date black men: today's popular images have elevated the attractiveness of Black men. They are depicted as physically attractive, strong, talented, athletic, etc. Why wouldn't I find them to attractive? . So Sisters: don’t hate me if a brother prefers me because of my personality and my individual features.

My friend Jon Jon
: He says "he doesn't want to deal with the drama of black women.", His dad said he's weak and doesn't know how to handle the cultural/historic strength of black women. I've also been told by other black men who date white women, that white women are uninhibited sexually. Their words, "they do whatever you want." I say those men a deficient in making black women comfortable so that they might be less inhibited. I take issue with that stereotype as much as I take issue with the stereotype of a angry black women. I know it's a lot to think about.

What is your opinion?

Previous Dating Experience Shared

I'm posting this because it still makes me smile...This happened a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy..

Normally I don't share too much about my personal and private activities but I want to share this because it made me laugh out loud ---at myself.... Happy Monday everyone!

As I always I enjoy social events, such as parties;gallery openings;movie nights; and dinner [plays;gatherings;theater –you get the picture. Due to my hectic life and responsibilities, I try to find a balance between leisure time, family fun, staying healthy, and work. My professional life is [extremely] structured to a point that it drives my co-workers insane [as most of you know], secondly my family stability and consistency is my main priority [it makes my house,a home] BUT my personal and fun activities are often very, very spontaneous, somewhat experimental, and exciting! Sometimes a bit too exciting and experimental...

Last night I received a call from my hair stylist. He and his boyfriend are not only extremely talented, they are much fun to be with. They were invited for a party and asked me to join them. After they picked me up from my favorite pick up place [ I still don't like to drive at night], dressed me up, we arrived at the party. For this occasion we were totally dressed up. I wore an afro wig, hot pants, thigh-boots, nail art and so much make up that I barely recognized myself in the mirror. Erwin and his man were dressed up like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton - seriously, they looked gorgeous LOL. This dude came up to me dressed up as a hip hop guru, and told me he had not figured out yet if I was more a Beyonce or a Kimora Lee Simmons. He said he was JayZ tonight, and he would like to have an affair with Kimora {if Beyonce was ok with that.] It was soo crazy that I decided to play the role of Kimora and Beyonce depending on our role play and don't take "affair" literally please. There was a stage and I performed and danced on "naughty girl" from Beyonce. "JayZ" pulled me up the stage when they had "crazy in love" on the tables. Now you might think ok what's the big deal.. this is boring … my regular evening out got a little twist.. At 4 am decided I needed my beauty sleep.. I thanked JayZ for his charming and amusing role play with me, he then hugged me good bye [no, we did not exchange numbers] and told me if I ever needed a secretary or executive manager he would be available to assist me. I told him that I always support feministic views that typical women's jobs could easily be done by mem, and vice versa.
JayZ responded as followed, and I quote:

" for that I have to wait for my SEX CHANGE and I have not saved enough money for a PENIS yet .....................................

OMG: I completely forgot that the majority of the public in this joint was gay… JayZ was a woman YIKES but what a D*** GOOD impersonation of JAYZ.. Luckily for me that I'm not a girl that puts her tongue in every person or stranger she meets EVER ..STILL DOUBLE YIKES

Erwin and his man are teasing me ever since. They suggested that I should go out with them more often. I have to think about that one.

Now you can laugh ...

Hugzz Dahlings,

A Piece of Me

A Piece of Me

Dating in Dc is fun but not the easiest thing to do. My preferences I shared with you are in more details listed on a Dating site. Online Dating is the perfect solution for girls like me who simply don’t have the time for an extensive social life next to a busy professional and family life. Online Dating provides the opportunity to look beyond your geographical area – if you wish so. The fun part is to market yourself bold but realistic for the potential daters. REALISTIC is a key word in my vocabulary.

Some Tips, Hints and Winks if you consider setting up an online Dating Profile

Pictures:
Please display ONLY pictures of YOU. Not from your friends or some poor anonymous individual who now has his face attached to your profile. Oh, and pictures of you when you were in High School or before you gained 100 pounds are cute as a reference but do display recent pictures in addition - thanks a bunch.

Expectations and Preferences:

Brady Bunch
Some data that you provide are fixed. For instance: if you consider children in the future- you can opt for yes; one or two, no; maybe Okay here’s the deal: 1 or 2 children is not 5 or 7. If you want to audition for the Brady Bunch remake – please put a notice in your essay – Thank you.

Dinner Only
Be transparent regarding your expectations or intentions: if you want a fling, or you are a serial dater looking for someone to pay for your dinner each night, I’m sure you can find your match online. You’re not unique there's an official explicite name for this phenomenon – yes, there are individuals like yourself who are in pursuit of a-dinner-only date- it’s no biggie but I'll skip that piece of the cookie.

Married
You’re still married? Go Elf Yourself There are other sites that supplies what you’re looking for and it will only cost you the subscription fee instead of… well fill in the blanks

Age
I’m a woman who like to affiliate herself with men who are mature and have a mind of quality. I prefer older men with life experience, who can hold a substantial conversation. Age is no guarantee, however the fault margins are smaller..

I met an individual in his 40’s very cute, intelligent, mysterious, sweet but he clubs at least 4 nights per week, and hangs out with a party crew with an average age of 25. Conversations about why another girl looks at another girl or wearing the wrong shoes with what outfit is the highest level of communication for this crowd. It’s amusing and entertaining for one evening but I don’t like to be affiliated with it too much – Hey, I have a reputation to hold up high *grin*

The Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher Factor
I guess it’s accepted for men to date women a fourth they’re age. Nowadays younger guys and women are not on common for the dating scenery. I’ve been out on a date with a younger man ONCE. He did have a mature mind when I spoke with him by phone and via chat..He was very determined to meet me. I gave in [after three weeks], and decide to have drink with Mr. Ashton Jr. [only 23 years young].

He drove his father’s car but it was a cute car. He brought me to a sports café which was different for a first date After a few minutes I tried not to make it so obvious that t Ashton’s sweaty odor was making me obnoxious. He’s hormones were really playing parts – the poor thing.

Then the “-I’m-2- young -2-date without –my-moms –approval” kicked in. First when he was chatty it was adorable but when the conversation started to swift and stick to his PlayStation highlights of the week, I dozed off. After a good 20 minutes of listening to all the features on his newest game, I called it a quit. I tried not to hurt his feelings but have you ever played with a young puppy? A young puppy doesn’t have much boundaries unless he’s trained. If he bites and you say “NO” he’ll continue to bite unless the consequences are vivid in his mind.
After spending 10 minutes explaining why I was going home, and he almost started to cry I had to be blunt. NO I AM NOT INTERESTED IN YOU or PlayStation and I AM GOING HOME NOW. Ashton was the first and the last person I went out with under the age of 39.

DC Dating

DC dating almost incestuous. Picture this: you meet a guy on a first date, and he is befriended with your ex. You and your date exchange dating experiences, and he confides in you about how his buddy met this hot woman. When he starts with the full description of the woman and his friends desperate call for help for a second date- you realize your date is reflection on YOUR previous hell date with his friend. You go out on a date, and your date is the new co-worker of your ex. More of this in other posting.

The Family Factor
My family is essential for me and many of you. After a appalling experience Dr. H. [my brother] is actively involved in my dating experience. Our family reputation is important to us, and I cannot afford to make another disastrous decision again. In addition: I'm the baby in our family, the rebel and for this reason I have my brother to watch over me - sometimes it's awkward but ... I love him to death!

If you:
- are unaware of utilizing silverware in a restaurant;
- consider an all-you-can-eat buffet an upscaled evening out;
- have no sense of etiquette, and thus don't get the difference between a black tie, white tie, festive attire, professional attire, formal/semi-formal, resort attire, casual attire and golf attire;
- experience a dysfunctional family life;

,it will be impossible for me to fit you into my family, professional and personal life.

Chemistry
I’m unsure if biology is part of the standard curriculum at the – at least - High School in the US, but this is the definition of “chemistry”
Webster's Dictionary says the following:
chem•is•try n., pl. -tries. 1. the science that systematically studies the composition, properties, and activity of organic and inorganic substances and various elementary forms of matter. 2. chemical properties, reactions, phenomena, etc.: the chemistry of carbon. 3. a. sympathetic understanding; rapport. b. sexual attraction. 4. the constituent elements of something; the chemistry of love. [1560-1600; earlier chymistry].

My phenomena is configured for Black Men. No offense but I don’t reply to men who obviously don’t read my profile. My profile receives approximately 200-300 hits a day. My inbox spills over with notes from men outside of my target group, and age. My profile is now hidden. I prefer to select my potential dates myself rather then to be picked by men who cannot read, and nor meet my criteria.

You want a piece of me?

Unless you have found the solution to instant DNA changes, I might consider to read your profile or email otherwise, this Angry Asian Cookie is stuck and sealed in the Cookie Jar.

My Main Advisors and Friends

Where To Start...

First things first - I haven't been dating for a while for the mere fact that I was exploring one particular "avenue", but that didn't work out as expected. No biggie, Life moves on and so do I. DC is a though area to date. Many people such as myself have a hectic life.
And DC is a Small Small World. [More about that in a different posting]

My best friends encouraged me to start dating again. And evidently I took the bite Let me introduce you to my peeps:

Camy:
has been my best friend ever since he discovered that he could pull my piggy tails.

My brother dearest [to whom I will refer to as Dr. H.]:
is the matre de Famille, my Guardian Angel, and practical realist.

VC:
has been my girl since kindergarten, besides being my BF, she's a though cookie with lots of life experience.

Last but not least Mos:
With Mos I reflect upon my experiences, men, relationships and astrological relationship influences.

In January Cam, Mos and I had separate discussions about my previous dating track records.
Cam insisted that with so many Fish in the Sea it wouldn't be so difficult to Catch a Fish.

Fish come in several sizes; from different families; colors; flavors; and so on. I have my own preferences, and I'm not ashamed of it. Imagine that you would pick your ice cream flavor on a Hot Summer Day would you settle for Vanilla if you love Chocolate? Probably not.

I like Chocolate. I love a BiG - Stocky - Heavy - Tall - Fish. No offense but that's my flavor. In addition I enjoy a mind of quality who can hold a substantial conversation. Now I'm a cookie and a smiling cookie. Boring; Anal Fish I'll be happy to throw them back in the Sea. Bye bye but I'll pass that one - Happy Hunting for you girls.. A Zest for Life, Laughing and Smiling are the main ingredients that makes a fish , a tasty fish. Are there enough Fish in the Sea ? No Doubt about it. But I'm looking for that one particular Gold Fish that can live a life of Character and Integrity; earmarked with all the traits I have mentioned before. Tyrese Gibson comes close to what I would call Dream Man.

He's intelligent, sexy, sweet and can hold a converation. Yes, I had the pleasure to meet T. but of course I made a fool out of myself... Get accustom to my bloopers with my dates.

In this blog I'll share my conversations, my assessments, the advice from my peeps, my kisses, my turn offs and ons and yes, my bloopers .. Of course if you wish. you could assist me with finding my dream date.
